Our extensive experience across diverse applications and industries empowers us to offer informed recommendations that drive our customers’ success. Backed by cutting-edge manufacturing facilities, advanced equipment, and seasoned process engineers, we excel in delivering complex, custom, and challenging projects with precision and efficiency.

Two-Shot Molding:
Achieving Superior Structure and Soft Touch

Design Molded Plastics proudly offers two-shot molding capabilities, boasting rotary two-shot machines up to 500 tons. With deep engineering design and tool-building expertise, we specialize in various two-shot and overmolding applications, including multi-color and multi-material configurations across a wide spectrum of industries. Two-shot molding enables the creation of products with a soft exterior and internal rigid structure, providing unparalleled versatility. While two-shot molding offers distinct advantages, we understand that it may not be suitable for all applications due to the associated capital expenses. In such cases, custom overmolding presents a viable alternative, eliminating the need for multiple secondary operations and assembly, thereby saving both time and costs.

In-Mold Labeling: Streamlining Labeling and Decoration

At Design Molded Plastics, we have developed innovative solutions for diverse industries using decorative film inserted during the injection molding process, known as in-mold labeling (IML). Leveraging advanced techniques such as hot stamping and IML, we deliver consistent, high-quality results, even with intricate graphics and multiple layers. By integrating labeling during molding, we eliminate the need for additional post-production steps, enhancing efficiency and reducing production timelines. Our experienced team is equipped with the expertise and technology to successfully implement complex IML processes, ensuring exceptional outcomes for our clients.

Scientific Molding: Precision Engineering for Superior Quality

Scientific injection molding lies at the core of our manufacturing philosophy. It offers finite control over the molding process to eliminate variables that could compromise part quality. At Design Molded Plastics, we invest in our employees’ development, ensuring they undergo rigorous training and certification programs such as those offered by RJG, the industry standard for injection molding training. Led by RJG-certified master molders, our process engineering team excels in problem prevention and resolution, driving manufacturing productivity and delivering consistent, high-quality parts.

High-Heat Molding: Pushing Boundaries with Advanced Resins

Design Molded Plastics is at the forefront of high-heat molding and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment capable of processing high-heat and high-performance resins. With mold temperature capabilities reaching up to 390 degrees Fahrenheit, we specialize in materials such as PPS, PPA, PARA, PEEK, and carbon-filled PEEK. These advanced materials offer lightweight yet high-strength performance, making them ideal for demanding applications, including metal-to-plastic conversions. As resin technology evolves, we remain committed to investing in the latest equipment and expertise to support our clients’ evolving needs.

Metal to Plastic Conversions: Enhancing Performance and Efficiency

Drawing on our extensive knowledge and experience, Design Molded Plastics specializes in metal-to-plastic conversions, helping clients reduce weight and costs simultaneously. By leveraging high-performance grade resins, we offer solutions that meet the rigorous demands of various industries while optimizing efficiency and performance. Our collaborative approach and deep understanding of materials enable us to support clients across a wide range of applications, facilitating seamless transitions from metal to plastic.

Vertical Molding: Enhancing Productivity and Efficiency

Equipped with a 220-ton vertical molding machine featuring a rotary table, Design Molded Plastics excels in designing tooling and refining manufacturing procedures for overmolded parts. The rotary platen bottom half enhances productivity in overmolded applications, allowing for seamless loading and unloading of finished goods and work-in-progress parts. Our vertical molding capabilities optimize efficiency and throughput, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products to our valued customers.
